Bisnis laundry termasuk yang paling cepat tumbuh. Pasar laundry Asia Tenggara diperkirakan naik sekitar 9,1% per tahun sampai 2030, dan Indonesia jadi salah satu yang adopsinya paling tinggi. Tapi pasar yang besar nggak otomatis bikin laundry kamu untung — yang bikin beda justru seberapa rapi keuangannya dikelola. Di bawah ini cara ngaturnya biar untung laundry kebaca jelas, bukan cuma kerasa rame.
Laundry is one of the fastest-growing businesses. The Southeast Asian laundry market is projected to grow around 9.1% per year through 2030, and Indonesia is among the highest-adoption markets. But a big market doesn’t automatically make your laundry profitable — what sets you apart is how neatly you manage the finances. Below is how to set it up so your laundry profit reads clearly, not just ‘feeling busy’.

This is the root of almost every messy laundry’s finances. Customer money lands in the same wallet as household cash, then gets spent on detergent or wages with no record. At month-end there’s a balance, but nobody knows whether it’s profit, capital, or leftover personal money mixed in.
The cheapest but most impactful first step: open a dedicated business account or cash box. All laundry income goes in there, all business expenses come out of there. Take your owner’s pay as a fixed monthly ‘draw’, not random withdrawals. Only then can the business’s finances be measured honestly.
Handwritten receipts get mixed up easily, and an unrecorded transaction is as good as lost. Ideally every order is logged instantly: date, customer name, service (per kg / per piece / express), weight or quantity, and tariff. One order can have several services, so the total must be calculated automatically to avoid mistakes.
Kenapa penting? Why does it matter? Because this transaction log is how you see income per day, per service, even per customer. Without it, you only know ‘today was busy’ without knowing how much that busyness earned. Clean records also make chasing unpaid customers clear — no more laundry picked up but forgotten to bill.
What’s useful is knowing where the money went. Roughly, from a laundry revenue of about Rp20 million/month, operating costs can reach half of it — with detergent & softener around 10%, electricity 7.5%, staff wages 15%, rent 12.5%, and machine maintenance around 5%.

Once expenses are grouped by category, it’s immediately clear which one drains the most. If electricity or detergent balloons beyond reason, you can investigate: an inefficient machine, over-dosing detergent, or a leak somewhere. A lumped-together record will never flag this.
A big cash balance doesn’t necessarily mean profit — it could be customer money for laundry not yet done, or unused capital. What shows the real condition is profit & loss: revenue minus all operating costs equals net profit. From the example above, Rp20 million revenue with costs at half can leave a net profit in the 45–47% range.
This number is the basis for decisions: which service contributes most profit, whether to raise tariffs, or whether it’s time to add a machine. Once you read the P&L every month, you stop guessing and start running the laundry on data.
Washers and dryers are assets that will inevitably wear out. Many laundries get caught off guard when a machine breaks and they must buy a new one suddenly, while the profit has already been spent elsewhere. Routine maintenance (around 5% of revenue in the example above) should be budgeted from the start, plus a small reserve fund for future machine replacement.
By treating machine depreciation as a cost — not a surprise — the profit you record becomes more honest, and the business doesn’t wobble every time a machine needs replacing.
